All-in-One System: Measuring the Mechanical Properties of Intact Small Muscles or Physiological Tissues
This is a highly integrated, all-in-one system designed to provide researchers with a streamlined method to control and measure the mechanical properties of small tissues and muscles.
The 1500A, 1510A, and 1530A Small Tissue Test Systems allow researchers to precisely measure various mechanical relationships and parameters of small tissues with high confidence and reproducibility. These include: length–tension, force–velocity, work loops, and stiffness. With unlimited configuration flexibility, the three modular assemblies offer multifunctionality and enable accurate measurements of small tissue force and length. Each platform assembly is equipped with micrometer-level XYZ positioners to adjust the position of our 400A series force transducer, 322C high-speed length controller, and 300C dual-mode transducer.
Muscle or tissue samples are connected to the cantilever of the force transducer through a unique slit at the edge of the bath. When a suitable top cover is applied, the open-top bath system becomes an ideal closed environment for oxygen consumption or artificial muscle construct experiments. Under system operation, both force and length can be measured or controlled—from simple tension to complex mechanical characteristics.
Signal acquisition and data management are facilitated by software integration with standardized experimental protocols, transforming complex experiments into straightforward measurements. In addition, a metal base is provided to safely mount the test platform, ensuring smooth movement between the base and upright/inverted microscopes.
Features:
Complete test system with bath platform tailored for small tissues
Temperature-controlled baths (volumes from 400 µL to 1900 µL)
Capable of both measuring and controlling force and length
Compatible with standard upright and inverted microscopes
Configurable with our sarcomere length measurement software (HVSL/VSL)
Resolution up to 0.01 µN
Force measurement peak range: 0.5 mN to 1000 mN
Versatile Instrument for a Wide Range of Applications
Built on a flexible, modular assembly framework, the 1500A is an ideal solution for exploring a wide range of small muscles, tissues, or other biological samples. From tissue-engineered constructs to zebrafish, the 1500A is a powerful tool—not only for basic functional parameter measurements but also for comprehensive studies of mechanical behavior.
Innovative Bath Design
The bath is equipped with a solution perfusion system, built-in stimulation electrodes, and a glass bottom, allowing for tissue viability while also enabling imaging. Its horizontal layout and open-top design can be sealed with a compatible lid to create a closed system for oxygen consumption or hypoxia-related experiments.
Optional Fluorescence and Sarcomere Length Measurement
The 1500A is compatible with most commercially available inverted microscopes and allows for add-on modules for sarcomere length and fluorescence measurement. When these modules are integrated into the system, real-time and simultaneous measurement of force, sarcomere length, and calcium concentration becomes possible.
Powerful Software and Standard Protocol Library
The software package includes a rich library of predefined protocols designed for skeletal, cardiac, or smooth muscle research. It also provides easy-to-use utilities for system configuration. Predefined protocols include operation settings and data acquisition routines. Users can also write their own protocols or collaboratively create custom pipeline workflows.
