Simplifying Demanding Permeabilized Muscle Fiber Experiments
The 1400A and 1410A are revolutionary systems designed to increase experimental throughput and simplify the complexities of permeabilized muscle fiber research. Aurora Scientific understands the wide-ranging applications and demands of permeabilized fiber studies, which is why we designed the 1400A Series to enable researchers to precisely measure a variety of fiber properties.
The system features a reliable, temperature-controlled testing platform equipped with a micrometer-level XYZ positioning stage for adjusting the location of the force transducer and high-speed length controller. One groundbreaking feature is its software-controlled, motorized bath platform, which houses eight small bath chambers. Each bath can be automatically positioned as needed, and the movement sequence can be pre-programmed.
This dedicated software package includes a library of pre-programmed experimental protocols. Through simple software operation, researchers can easily control and measure force and length, significantly simplifying even the most demanding experiments. With the ability to measure and control force, length, and sarcomere length (when used with our HVSL/VSL systems), the system enables full characterization of muscle fiber properties such as:
force-Ca²⁺ relationship, tension-length, force-velocity, stiffness, and relaxation dynamics, among others.
This fully integrated testing system is constructed from corrosion-resistant materials and is conveniently mountable on the stage of an inverted microscope for both basic and high-resolution imaging. Automated Sample Baths
The auto-indexing bath system simplifies measurement of the force–calcium concentration relationship. Researchers only need to pre-load calcium concentration solutions and predefine activation/relaxation sequences. The 1400A system takes care of the rest—automatically.
Powerful Software & Standard Protocol Library
The software suite includes a robust protocol library tailored for single fiber research, along with intuitive setup tools for easy system configuration. Pre-programmed protocols cover both system operation and data acquisition settings. Researchers can also write custom protocols or collaborate with lab members to design automated pipeline operations.
Integrated Sarcomere Length Control
By adding the 900B/901B Sarcomere Length Detection Software to the 1400A system, resting sarcomere length can be easily and accurately measured and set. With high-speed camera synchronization, force, fiber length, and sarcomere length can be recorded in real time, saved in a single time-synchronized data file.
Optional Heated Bath Module
The 8-bath temperature-controlled platform of the 1400A also offers a heated variant, designed to investigate temperature-dependent excitation effects. Precision thermoelectric control allows for simultaneous hot and cold baths, ranging from 0°C to 40°C.
